The Belle-Baie Police Force uses its press release and Facebook pages to alert, educate, and advise the public on significant local safety matters. In July 2026, the force officially transitioned to its new name and logo to reflect its expanded mission of protecting more than 5,000 additional residents across the entire municipal territory of Belle-Baie. Updates on this page frequently cover high-priority events, including:

2026-05-30; Homicide

On May 8, 2026, around 3:05 a.m., officers from the Belle-Baie Police Force responded to a medical call at a residence in Petit-Rocher. Upon arrival, the officers discovered a 50-year-old man with an abdominal wound. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance to treat his injury.

On May 22, 2026, the man identified as Serge Savoie passed away at the Chaleur Regional Hospital. An autopsy was performed. The Belle-Baie Police Force considers the death to be a homicide. 

On May 30, 2026, a 28-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the homicide.

On June 1, 2026, Alicia Lagacé appeared via videoconference in Bathurst Provincial Court and was charged with manslaughter, aggravated assault, and breach of probation. She was remanded into custody and is scheduled to reappear in court on June 8, 2026.

The investigation is ongoing. Any other questions regarding the circumstances of the death are part of the current investigation.

New Graduates

On April 2nd, Chief Roger Clavet attended the Atlantic Police Academy to congratulate our two new police officers, Shawn Landry-Martin and Nolan Babin.

They successfully completed their training, which includes both classroom instruction and a on-the-job training portion. They are now fully qualified to begin their new careers.

HIT & RUN

The BNPP Regional Police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit and run that occurred on Sunday, March 29, at approximately 10:25 a.m., in at the intersection of Principale Street and Rue du Parc in the Beresford's Sector.

The vehicle failed to stop after the collision, continued northbound on Rue Principale, and then turned onto Rue Acadie.The vehicle is described as a dark grey 2011 to 2014 Hyundai Sonata (GLS or SE).
